Hi, I’m Kristy, a Registered Social Worker (RSW) in BC and Alberta, coffee enthusiast and intern at Jody Cook Counselling. I have fifteen years of experience working with complex and diverse populations, with individuals and families in numerous settings and systems. I have a passion for people, for hearing their unique stories, and supporting them through the highs and lows of life.

In 2024, I began the Master of Social Work program at Wilfrid Laurier University to deepen my expertise and to help individuals and families heal and thrive in creative and meaningful ways. Counselling tools are limitless, and with some work and non-judgmental support, you can explore your past and present challenges to navigate and celebrate your future. It can also be used as a form of maintenance for those who simply need an honest and encouraging sounding board.

I bring compassion, curiosity and a warm, practical nature to my practice. Using a collaborative, client-centred and trauma-informed approach, I strive to establish a trusting and inviting space for you to “unpack” your stories at your pace. We will incorporate various evidence-based modalities depending on your symptoms, needs, individual preferences, strengths and goals. My typical practice areas include attachment, trauma, relationships including domestic violence, mood disorders, parenting, family systems and estrangement, boundaries, bereavement, sexual abuse and rural mental health and wellness.

It would be an honor if you chose to share your stories with me, and allowed me to walk your counselling journey with you. Please reach out if you’d like to schedule a consultation, to ask me questions, or to find out how we can work together.

If you are interested in working with me, but don’t see hours that align with your schedule, please reach out so we can figure out a mutually beneficial time to meet.
